Days of Yore is an outdoor living history festival entertaining and educating the public to cultural traditions, lifestyles, and activities of bygone eras through authentic representation of those times.

Artisan Alley

The Mountain View Arts Society has been bringing musicians and artists to Didsbury, and showcasing locals since 2011. The 6th edition of Days of Yore takes place July 30 and July 31, 2022 in Didsbury Alberta, and we know that our region has an incredible wealth of artistic talent.

Days of Yore features artisans from Mountain View County and the surrounding region, but a very special artist - artisans who specialize in creating heritage arts and traditional crafts in keeping with the character of this festival.

Rude and Rustic Metalworks
We're excited to welcome Rude and Rustic Metalworks this year as they are bringing you some hand forged items. From Didsbury, Bubba will be bringing primitive corkscrews, maybe some sgian-dubh (small skinning knives), and some Ulus (the tool Inuit women use for skinning and cleaning fish). Make sure you come see the set up of his forge and anvil for live demos.

Shining Brow
Mark Hennekam is a crowd favourite, with his hand painted clothing and keepsakes. His style is Celtic, Norse, and even Mystical (framed art). Shining Brow Designs has been Mark's creative pursuit for almost 30 years. He uses a variety of designs, and hand paints them on clothing, some jean jackets, some hand painted appliqued cloaks, and others. You may have seen him at different events around Alberta including the Red Deer Highland Games.

Wild Dog Armoury
Wait till you see what Cassandra from Wild Dog Armoury is bringing to Days of Yore! She has Leather Armour, cuirass, vambraces, greaves, pauldrons, masks, bags, pouches, and even blacksmithing shawl pins! The stitched leather cuffs are quite affordable and the finishing touch to your unique costume. Chris' forged art includes a metal magic wand with brass brushing - beautiful workmanship.

Kelly Beads
Always happy to see a talented artist from right here at home, and that's who you'll be visiting with when you come see Kelly Ketchum, a Didsbury artisan who does bead jewellery and art work. One of a kind creations - even does custom beadwork, so come visit Kelly at Days of Yore and have a chat.

Empathic Wytness Tracy
Here's something a little new for Days of Yore - Empathic Wytness Tracy Loeppky from Didsbury will be bringing her talents in energy healing, empathic coaching, and as a clairvoyant psychic reader. Tracy also does rune readings, which take us back to the days of Odin and the Vikings. Tracy will be an unique addition to our living history festival and the cultural traditions of bygone eras. She may just assist you in figuring out your personal path.

Dragon Forge Armoury
Dragon Forge Armoury is coming to Didsbury all the way from Yellowhead County. Hazel's booth will be full of scale and chainmaille: jewellery, armour, novelties, accessories and more. Then there's Melissa, who loves working with the delicate intricacies of Swarovski pendants, and the subtle ombres their hand-anodized niobium produces. From fun costumes and accessories to romantic bridal sets and gifts, you'll probably find exactly what you're looking for!

Dragonfly Jewels
You may have seen Tammy at Spruce Meadows or Westerner Park, but now you get to see her Dragonfly Jewels 'N More in person at Days of Yore! She'll have Anklets, Arm Cuffs, Aromatherapy Jewellery, Bookmarks, Bracelets, Candles with hidden jewels, Car Smellies, Ear Cuffs, Earrings and much more! You can even talk to Tammy about her support of "The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer".

Opalulu Products
This is going to be such a great addition to Days of Yore that Ben will be filling TWO booths! He's coming with handmade wooden lawn games like Kubb (a Viking lawn game), weathered wood candle holders, timber benches and picnic tables. There will also be work made with ancient whole grains - emmer wheat, spelt (another hulled wheat that has been cultivated since approximately 5000 BC), wheat Viking chairs and shields, feather pens, candy sticks and various turned wood items.

The Emperor's Bodyguard
Calling all collectors! You're going to love your visit at The Emperor's Bodyguard booth. It'll be full of quality old military toys from 1900 and beyond - with something for everyone: Knights, Vikings, Civil War, lead, plastic, composition and pewter. Have a chat with Stephen about his work on "The Halifax Explosion", and "Passchendaele".
Didsbury Municipal Library
Always so happy to have one of our signature partners join in on the fun! Visit the Didsbury Library at Days of Yore, as they step back in time when the prairie grass was long and summer days were filled with simple pleasures. Take a moment in the shade to make a historical folk yarn doll with our friends.

Tarot Reader YYC
Joyce Crierie, Tarot Reader YYC, is joining Days of Yore for the first time and we are very pleased with what she is bringing to Didsbury. Besides tarot readings, Joyce also has crystals, candles, jewellery, incense, books, tarot cards, and many other items. Joyce is an internationally sought after Tarot Reader who uses Tasseography (tea leaves), Pendulum Reading, Aura Reading, and Encaustic Art.

BBB Honey Farm
Here's a really sweet deal for you! Coming all the way from Alhambra, BBB Honey Farm is bringing bottled mead (honey wine), honey, bath and body products like lotions, scrubs, and soaps all made with wax/honey. There's also candles, soaps, maple syrup, and yes, even honey straws!

Louise and Wade work together to make sure the products from the hive are ready for you to buzz away with. They would love it if you buzzed by their booth at Days of Yore!

Jeff Powers Illustration
You will truly enjoy the amazing illustrations, paintings, and drawings that Jeff Powers is bringing to Days of Yore. A classically trained illustrator and artist, he has been creating artwork that ranges from the dark and macabre art of book and CD covers, to the sublime beauty of landscapes and animal paintings.

Jeff has his art on dice bags, colouring books, stickers, T-shirts, pins, and magnets, so the kids will be excited to see what cool things he has as well!

Halia's Helium Events
Children love creativity! Children love fun! And quite simply, children love beauty! And that's what they're going to get at Days of Yore with our fabulous face painters! Kids have such great imaginations and getting their faces painted helps them "get into character" for the rest of the day. They'll walk around and show off their colourful faces and go home feeling so good! So plan to include facepainting by Halia's Helium Events in your visit this weekend. They've got many different designs for your kids to choose from - and you can get your face painted as well! Halia's Helium Events is a mother/daughter run company based in Innisfail. They offer helium Balloon Bouqets, garlands, archways and all decor balloons.

Woodlander Crafts
This will be Angela's first time at Days of Yore, and you're in for a real treat! Wait till you check out all her fairy-themed woodland driftwood characters. You'll see hand-crafted fairy gardens, dreamcatchers, wind chimes, peacock feathers, and creatures made with beautiful stones.

Food Trucks - Mmmm good!!

Funny thing about people - they like to have fabulous food when they go to fabulous festivals. So, that's what we offer - great food from some great food trucks! Our Food Trucks are selected by committee and sent invitations to participate. We are very pleased to have found two "mmm good" local food trucks: Grillz Weenie Wagon and The Mini Donut Factory. Hot dogs, tornadoes, poutine, and lots of special summer treats!
