What a Great Summer we had in Didsbury!

Since 2011, the Mountain View Arts Society has hosted terrific, family-friendly, "Signature Events" in the town of Didsbury, Alberta.

This year is no exception, as we celebrated Alberta's Heritage Weekend in August at the 10th Annual Days of Yore Living History Festival.

Then, we promoted "Play Music on the Porch Day" on August 31st. We invited local musicians to join musicians from around the world, playing their favourite instruments!

We kicked off harvest season in Didsbury as a Host Celebration Site for Alberta Culture Days during the Mountain View Arts Festival, September 6, 7 & 8. In its 13th year, this Festival celebrated Alberta's Month of the Artist in five different venues! Residents and visitors to town enjoyed our Jazz Band Dessert Night, Video Game Music Band, hands-on with Artists at Work, Virtual Reality Indigenous Culture, 1950s/60s Sing-a-long, Photography Show & Sale, chalking, caricatures, "Crafts to Go" downtown at the Train Station Parking Lot, original art from Didsbury High School art students, and topped off the weekend with an afternoon of great local music, including recording stars, The Polyjesters!

And now we head into the fall brainstorming plans for the coming year. If you have any ideas that help promote arts, culture, and heritage in Didsbury and area, send us an e-mail. We want to hear all your artsy wishes and dreams!

Over 200 visitors and residents painted their leaves for our first mural.
ART MURAL PROJECT
The Arts Society heads up a mural feature in downtown Didsbury. Our first one was an incredible collaboration with people who painted their own leaves at the 2019 Arts Festival. The leaves were then added to the roots, trunk, and branches. This first mural can be seen from two streets or up close and personal on the Elks Hall building, behind the Post Office. The second mural is being created in the spring of 2024 by wildlife artist, and Didsbury doctor, Mike Sydoryk.
The Mountain View Arts Festival is held in conjunction with Alberta's Month of the Artist and Alberta Culture Days.
ARTS FESTIVAL
Since 2011, thanks to the community and Canadian Heritage, the Arts Festival has been one of Didsbury Alberta's signature events, and Mountain View County's largest festival of its kind! Held in conjunction with Alberta's Month of the Artist and Alberta Culture Days, the weekend following the September long weekend will see the town come alive with dancers, storytellers, musicians, songwriters, railroaders, Indigenous culture, painters, carvers - you name it; if it's artsy, it'll be here!
The Art Show and Sale is held each spring in Didsbury Alberta
ART SHOW & SALE
"A Brush with Art" Spring Art Show and Sale has featured visual artists from Mountain View County and the surrounding region for many years. A highlight for the artists is the opportunity it provides to network with each other, as well as meet prospective clients. We are always happy to support artists and their work.
